Chris has been teaching freelance for over ten years

 

He has designed and delivered training programmes in a variety of subjects from sound engineering to Cubase, Reason, Web Design, Podcasting and Radio Presenting.

In 2008, Chris founded non-profit organisation Music Industry Learning Limited (MIL), which is now based at MediaCityUK along with the BBC, ITV and a host of other music and media companies.

Two months after launch, MIL was shortlisted in the 'community' category at the Salford Business Awards from over thirty-five applicants down to the final four.

He founded the company because there was a lack of any real music industry training in the northwest, and Chris felt that his wealth of knowledge would benefit those who dreamt of working in the music 'biz'.

MIL launched as the world's first 'virtual' music academy after Chris spent a year writing a series of six unique music workbooks. They cover over 80 topics such as songwriting, composing, copyright, recording, record deals, management, performing, distribution, publishing, promotion, finding work in the music industry and setting up as self-employed. They have been sold in all major bookstores and libraries worldwide from Waterstones, Borders, Barnes & Noble, WH Smith, Tesco Online, Amazon and more. Having succesfully secured grants from the National Lottery and the BBC along with partnerships with Hard Rock Cafe & Foryths, MIL was able to expand its portfolio by delivering face to face courses in music, video and radio production to a wide range of clients such as disadvantaged individuals and groups within Salford.

In February 2012, Chris will teach freelance for the BBC in London. He is also trained in child and vulnerable adult safeguarding, is CRB checked, holds a full clean driving license and a C&G 7303 teaching qualification.
